Scout for Food – November 5th and 12th

Scout for Food

November 5th and 12th

Scouting for Food is an annual food collection orchestrated by the Scouts from the National Capital Area Council.

Local Scouts distribute plastic bags to homes across the region and return to pick up the bags, now filled with food, one week later. Collected food is turned over to local foodbanks for distribution to needy families in the area. This is the single largest community service project that the Scouts participate in all year.

Our yearly Scouting for Food Drive starts Saturday November 5th with distribution of bags and adults and Scouts are needed for this important Troop 1128 activity that helps the needy. We need to have at least 23 parents to drive and all Scouts to place the bags (with flyers inside) at the front of houses. A map will be provided to each driver for the area assigned to them for bag distribution.

We will meet at Andrew Chapel at 8:45 AM Saturday November 5th and cars should leave right after that for bag distribution. Scouts should be in Class A uniforms. For planning purposes the distribution of bags should take
about two to three hours if we have full participation.

On Saturday November 12th we will meet again at Andrew Chapel at 8:45AM to begin the pick up of food and 23 drivers and all scouts will be needed then also. Pickup generally takes 2-3 hours. This will be the subject of another email.
