Announcing HA-201-Paddles 2017, a guided 5-day Sea Kayaking High Adventure on Pamlico Sound along the North Carolina coast, in the Cape Lookout National Seashore region of the Outer Banks!

This trip is a true sea kayaking wilderness adventure! You will be paddling in the open but protected waters of Pamilco Sound between Beaufort, NC and Cedar Island, exploring remote and uninhabited islands, and camping in the dunes. You will carry all your personal equipment, tents, sleeping bags, crew gear, food and water in your solo 14′ sea kayaks, experiencing sun, waves, wind and wildlife up close and personal.  There will be time to swim, fish, or just relax. And if the Crew is up to the challenge, earn the 50-Miler Award for Kayaking!

The trip is open to Scouts who:

  • Are Active in the Troop
  • Will be at least 13 years old by July 21, 2017
  • Have attained First Class rank
  • Have been backpacking to Dolly Sods at least once
  • Have earned Troop Achievement Award – BASIC

In addition, Scouts will need to re-certify their BSA Swim Test prior to the trip.

Cost: Estimated trip cost is $400 per participant, which includes all activities, fees, food and transportation.

Deposit: $100 deposit is required to hold a space. Make checks out to “BSA Troop 1128”.

Space is limited to 10 Scouts. Sign-ups will be available at Troop meetings during the month of April until full.
