TROOP 1128 June 2017 Caving and Camping Trip

Whiting’s Neck, WV and Antietam Creek Campground, MD

June 10-11, 2017

Troop 1128 is going on a camping trip June 10-11, 2017 to Antietam Creek Campground, MD.

DETAIL: The trip is open to all Scouts however caving/spelunking is only open to those who are 12 years or older. We will be caving in Whiting’s Neck Cave, WV, with Terrapin Adventures on 10 June, 2017: http://www.terrapinadventures.com/tours-trips/caving/ .

An alternative activity will be planned for the younger scouts and will be dependent on the number attending. After caving, we will travel to Antietam Creek Campground where we will set up camp for the night and cook.

Average June temperature in the MD/WV area is 82°F day and 60°F night. Temperature in the cave is a constant 55°F. Rain is always a possibility. Layers of proper clothing, a good rain jacket/rain pants (no ponchos) and a sleeping bags are required for safety and comfort.

SCHEDULE: Scouts should arrive at Andrew Chapel on Saturday, June 10, no later than 7:00 AM. We will depart promptly at 7:30 AM, and will return by 12:00 PM on Sunday, June 11. Eat breakfast before departure, lunch will be provided by Terrapin Adventures however you may wish to bring a snack. Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be planned and prepared by the Scouts. The meals will be by Patrol cooking, Patrols will decide on a menu and purchase food prior to the trip.

COSTS: There is a $105.00 fee per participant (Scout and adult) to cover the caving, campsite fee, food and transportation.

PARENTS: Drivers may be needed to get us to the Caving on Saturday and to pick us up on Sunday. It is approximately 1 hr 30 mins. Please indicate if you can help with transportation for your son.
