Annual Troop Fair, Family Dinner, and Fall Court of Honor (COH)

Saturday, October 29, 2022

The annual Troop Fair is an opportunity for our Scouts to show off their Scouting skills while introducing Webelos from local Cub Scout packs to our program. The day begins at 9:00 am with the assembling of a rope bridge and other exhibits to welcome the Webelos who will arrive later in the afternoon.  Scouts are asked to be at Andrew Chapel for as much of the day as possible, and lunch will be provided for them.  Parents are invited to see the exhibits from 3:30 to 4 pm.

At 5:00 PM, we will have a Family Cook-out and Dinner for ALL members of the Troop and their families.

We ask that you make every effort to attend the Court of Honor (COH) following the Dinner. A court of honor is a formal recognition of a Scout’s accomplishments.  It is an important part of the advancement program, in which Scouts gain self-confidence and self-reliance by meeting a series of challenges and are encouraged to make further progress when we celebrate what they have done.  This is one of only three courts of honor the troop holds each year where we recognize and individually honor all Scouts for their achievements during the past four months (including all their achievements at Goshen).

This is our troop’s biggest court of honor of the year, and almost every Scout in the troop will receive some type of recognition.

Attending courts of honor is a good way for you to show your son or daughter that you care about what he/she is doing in Scouting.  You send an important message when you are present and the wrong one when you are not, particularly if your son/daughter is being recognized.

For those being recognized for rank advancement, the parents will also receive a miniature replica of the rank insignia awarded to their scout during the Court of Honor.

Thank you for your help, and we hope to see you at the Family Dinner and COH!

Update on Fri, Sep 30

The popcorn storefront sales for this weekend 10/1 and 10/2 are cancelled due to the rain.

Update on Tue, Sep 27

Big thank you to parents and scouts who help with the popcorn Tablesales Sept 24/25 weekends and sell online.

Currently, our troop has sold $10,972 worth of popcorn and peanuts. Our goal is for each scout to sell a minimum of $250.

Our last storefront sale is this coming week October 1/2 and we really need scout and parent help to sell the rest of the products we currently have in stock. We still have many shifts without scouts.

  2. Highest number of sales

INITIAL POST:

Our Annual Popcorn Fundraising Drive has begun again and we need draw your attention to the following:

WHY are Popcorn sales so important to our troop?

Popcorn sales are key for our scouts to be able to benefit from our troop’s programs, contributing to funding things like:

  • Camping Trips, Hikes, Goshen
  • High Adventure Trips
  • Troop camping gears and equipment

Without our scouts’ popcorn sales, all those activities would require much higher financial contributions – in some cases, families would not be able to afford activities.

We need everybody’s help!

Now onto the “HOW” we will accomplish it this season.

Each patrol will set a “Popcorn Goal” that will be tracked against the other Patrols. We will once again display the tracking charts for the popcorn sale to encourage each scout to participate.

Each scout’s goal is to sell a minimum of $250 of popcorn and $350 if they plan to participate in a High Adventure Trip. There are many ways to sell popcorn:

  1. The traditional “Take Order” (aka door-to-door)
  2. “Show and Sell” (aka table sales; Storefront Sales)
  3. On-line selling opportunities – see below for more information
  4. ”Show and Deliver” (product to doorstep) events where individual and teams of scouts will “check out product” and deliver it as they comb the neighborhood (aka Wagon Sales)

Every scout must have an account at the Trails-End website. Please do NOT create a new account, use Forgot Username and/or Forgot Password links. Email the Popcorn Coordinator (her info would be in the OneCall email you or your parents received) if you still have issues logging in.
